On 19 May a Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia will be asked to decide whether the people of Victoria directly choose Senators for Victoria or whether candidates selected by the Australian Electoral Commission and Daryl Wight, Australian Electoral Officer and State Manager for Victoria can misrepresent the people of Victoria in the Senate from 1 July. If free and direct elections are called immediately the rolls should close on 27 May and nominations on 30 May for polling by the last Saturday in July.
