Index settlement appointment

Three volunteer law students assisted the appellant with attendance at an appointment with the Registrar to discuss the draft index to Appeal Book today, Wednesday 5 March 2008 at 11a.m.

Appellant was unlawfully arrested. Applied for Habeas Corpus to justice of Federal Court. Taken to Victorian Supreme Court to apply for Habeas Corpus there. Declined to apply to the judge who was holding him prisoner there or listen to any explanations the AEC might have to offer for their behaviour and told them to explain their action to another judge who was not holding the appellant prisoner. Was offered bail. Declined to return under any circumstances once released from unlawful detention. Was duly released.
