Sub-etha broadcast

Still waiting for lawyers, guns and money. Send hackers.

Ok so sub-etha was still a largely fictional computer network back in the 1970s. But it isn't now - just as I'm not a fictional appellant with a case that is "hopeless" and "bound to fail".

FCA practices for fax are here.

Note that fax was developed earlier in the nineteenth century than electrons were discovered and is not considered "electronic" by the FCA.

Optical technology such as CD is however considered "electronic".

32GiB USB flash drives are now readily available (though still more expensive per GiB than the current "sweet spot"). Unlke the standard "electronic thumb" described in Fit the First, these still require external accessories for effective use.

Nevertheless it should be easy enough to boot with a LiveDistro or AutoPlay either the full live Plone web based version of our documents or .pdf and .html equivalents on any computer that can boot from USB or with any operating system that can mount a USB drive or a CD or DVD easily produced from it and any browser.

If normal spectrum use is feasible within Court ONE on level 8 it should be possible to file documents in the Registry and serve them on respondent's during the hearing using an  OLPC XO-1 children's laptop and a "Dick Tracey" watch.

On Wednesday 5 March 2008 at 11:50 a.m. my application for Habeas Corpus was heard by The Hon Richard Ross Sinclair TRACEY RFD.

This followed my arrest by the Sheriff of the Supreme Court of Victoria at 11:00 a.m. at the instigation of the Australian Government Solicitor on behalf of the Australian Electoral Commission who informed the sheriff that I would be attending an appointment with the Registrar and them to settle an appeal book index at that time and asked the sheriff to prevent that  occurring by arresting me in the Registrar's chambers on arrival.

The Hon Justice Tracey permitted the Sheriff to take me to the Supreme Court of Australia and apply for Habeas Corpus there but also noted for the record on transcript that if imprisoned I should be allowed internet access to the eCourt

facilities to avoid disrupting the Full Court hearing now listed for 19 May. At the Supreme Court, Smith J ordered my unconditional release and recommended to the AGS that next time they have me arrested it would be sensible not to do it in a Court building and to wait at least 30 days.

Hopefully leave could be obtained to use "electronics" in court as well as in prison if I do get arrested again from early April onwards. (Unfortunately 30 days does not allow them to pick April Fool's Day).

A mobile (battery operated) printer such as the HP Deskjet 450CBi would also be useful.

Use of elastic compute cloud EC2 would be nice.

Anyway we certainly want to produce Outline of Submissions and Chronology etc with relative hyperlinks to Appeal Book and other documents, legislation and cases that can be easily moved from web site to CD/DVD or flash drive. Note that  for relative URLs to be used in Chronology a (mostly) harmless convention has already been adopted.  See the example  URL for May 2008 - which also indicates what is at stake in this case. Similar conventions will be needed for other published material including references to full text of legislation and cases so relative hyperlinks can easily still work within .pdf or .html formats on different media.

Perhaps the digital fingerprints left by anyone using modern technology that is not based on 100% Free and Open Source for both software and hardware could be accepted as signatures and proof of ID  for voting and nominating in elections.
